My first post and an introduction

My name is Chandler and this is my blog. I'm an 11 year old golden retriever. I live in Colorado with my mom and dad. I have 2 human kids. Austin my kid boy is 12 and Ella my sweet kid girl is 5.

I also have two younger canine brother and sister. Hannah is a 7 month old King Charles Spaniel and Henry is a 12 week old Golden Retriever. Our house is full of the most important things. Love, hugs, belly scratches, babies ( my stuffed ones), tennis balls, treats and lots of wagging tails.

I've recently been diagnosed with lymphoma. This makes my humans sad but I'm going to use every last minute to enjoy their company and show them how much I love them. I also have so much to teach Hannah and Henry - they are both so young and have so much to learn.

I hope you will enjoy our blog !

  1. Welcome to the wonderful world of doggy blogs, Chandler, Hannah & Henry! I'm so glad you stopped by to visit me. Your family sounds a lot like mine; I have 3 human siblings (almost 11-yr old boy/girl twins and a 5 yr old boy) and 2 feline ones (13 & 12 yrs old).
I am so sorry to hear bout Chandler's condition...must be very hard. I only just turned a year old and am my family's first dog, so they've never had to experience that heartache. I'm sure you've lead a very good life with them and hope your last days are painfree. Hannah & Henry are so lucky to have you to show them the ropes.
    Your new pal,

  3. Hey Chandler,
We are very glad to know you and we'll stick with you through your journey. We have been through this before and kind of know what your family is going through. We are a big group of rescues and others. Many of us come here as seniors your age or older so we often have limited time before we go on our journeys to The Bridge. You will make your last days the best that they can be and your family, we're sure, will be there every step of the way until your time to go comes along. You will not face this by yourself; you won't be alone. You're in the same situation as our brother Chance was. He was diagnosed with an 8 week prognosis and he only had 2 bad days in that entire period. He got to go to McDonald's and Burger King and he had steak and liver and all sorts of stuff that the rest of us couldn't have. he all but had a seat at the dinner table with mom and dad. Dad slept with him on the floor his last night with us. He and chance are together out behind the garage under the shade trees. They have stones marking their places. We all loved them just as much as your family loves you. You can write us at "bumpasshounds@hughes.net" if you or your family think we can help y'all out at all. You'll be pretty busy passing on your life experience to Hannah and Henry and they'll have big boots to fill after you go. Not to worry about anyone replacing you though; it won't happen. No dog can be replaced, Hannah and Henry will be loved as you are, but they won't replace the unique, one of a kind Chandler. You'll mgo through this with family and friends. It will be a journey with ups and downs, just as you life has been. You're lucky that you won't be alone through your ordeal; those that love you will be there with you.
